This is the home of the Mighty Rangerrob.
My mission is to share my Northwest outdoor adventures, products, services and knowledge with
you, in a fun and informative way. To always treat our visitors, and customers with trust and respect.
Yes
its true, the Ranger hates to sleep on the ground. For years I slept in a tent
or in the back of my truck. But no more! We finally bought a 26 foot trailer
this year and I love it. It truly saves our family money from motels and eating
out. We fish, hunt and travel all the time anyway, so it is a real cost
savings. I admit we are green horns at this and would love to get stories and photos
from all of you. Please share your good and bad experiences. Let us know the
trips you have gone on, and are planning in the future. Thank you
Oasis RV Resort, Las Vegas Is Not A Five Star
Anymore!
For years we have been going to the Oasis RV Resort in Las Vegas for
its wonderful programs, services and security.
But something has changed. This year in 2008, many of the daily
activities have been removed and the quality seems to have dropped.
Alomg with the decline of quality, the have announce a increase in
rent. Announced at a time when the winter weather drops the overhead
with less landscaping needs and lower engery usage.
This is a very sad thing to see for what I use to think, was one of
the best RV Resorts in the country.
The Oasis has been rated in the past as a five star resort. I sugget
they measure it again.
If you are a fulltimer, or RV Snowbird. I suggest you shop around.
Your overhead cost at Oasis RV Resort will be a big factor now.
Well the new year is here,
and Rangerrob and Friends have a lot of great plans this year.
This winter has had us setting up plans for some wonderful
RV trips, Fishing trips in the US and Canada.
This year we are also starting a new "RV Living Today" DVD for people getting
ready to start traveling. This production will be in
partnership with "Silver Phoenix Studios".
We are also planning to be in the Sequim, Washington Fishing Derby on
Febuary 16th to the 18th. Hope to see ya there!!

RV Living Secrets: Full Timer Issues
(Section For The New Ebook - RV Secrets )
Here is a scary subject. Not owning a home anymore!
We all went through life working hard to have a home for our
families, and not with the kids gone, it’s big, and full of 25 to 40
years of stuff. Tons of stuff.
Me and my wife made the decision to become Full Timers, at age 44
even. 27 years of have homes, and 27 years of stuff.
What do we do, and will we regret it?
I will answers the second question first, will we regret it? The
answer is absolutely not. Even when we bought a home a few years
later, we have no regrets.
The first thing to do is to tell the kids you are dead. Its time to
get your stuff now!!.
So you and you better half need to start identifying what the kids
get, Then it’s time to sort. I was amazed by how much we have
aquimulated over the years. Stuff we have not touched of years.
I suggest you start this process at the beginning of the years to
springtime. So the weather is right for multiple garage sales, and
Goodwill runs. We spent many days going through boxes, papers,
closets, and the garage, that we could
never put a car into, sorting and boxing.
My wife’s attitude was great. We have had the same furniture for 26
years, and multiple homes, and we always had to use the same
furniture for all of them. If we have to buy a new home later, I
want furniture that I like now, and matches my home. So, the process
began, and the neighborhood, were like wolves, buying up everything.
And it was easy.
I cannot express how the relief it was getting rid of all that
stuff. Me and the Wife never felt so good. It was like a big burden
taken off our shoulders. It was the taste of Freedom.
We kept of best furniture, important family treasures, and basic
home items, and fit it all into a 10 x 10 storage facility and
called it good. Our kids thought we were nuts, but got a kick out of
it, probably since they now have most
of our old stuff.
Well, we are exited to announce a new Ebook "RV Secrets"
What They Don't Tell You About RV Living".
This will be a fun and informational ebook, coming out in March.

From Full Time RV Living, To RV Snow Birds
With Rangerrob
2007 - Go South - It's cold up
here!!
Well as you read below, our RV lifestyle has changed a bit.
We settled down in Central Oregon, and now, we are Snow Birds.
Its September now and we are off to the south.
Our new target is to see Utah, and then go to Nevada and Arizona.
We also went from a 36 foot 5th wheel, to a 2008 39 foot Fleetwood,
Discovery Motorhome.

Will Tour us thru Utah!
Some Fall Colors in Idaho
Down The Road
Idaho
Entering Utah from the North
East Corner
Our plan is to cross lower Idaho, Then catch the corner of
Wyoming. Then enter Utah from the northeast corner. We
will then go to Salt Lake City, then down to see all the Canyon
systems.
We will then go to Las Vegas and then to Arizona. From there "Who
Knows"!!
Yes, we have moved to full time RVing. I took a few
months to figure out that we wanted a 5th wheel for the best support
of our type of lifestyle. We settled for a new 35 foot Montana
with 3 slide outs.
We also had to upgrade our pickup to a
Ford 350 Diesel. It handles the rig with very little effort.
Getting ready for this extreme lifestyle change was hard
at times, but refreshing at the same time. I think our kids
thought we died early, since we gave them most of our stuff, and
sold the rest in garage sales. We also gave a lot of items to
goodwill.
We managed to only need to store personal stuff in a 10 x
10 storage unit.
Our adventure started as soon as we sold our home in the
Seattle, Washington area. Our official dated date was July 1
of 2006.
We started at Fossil, Oregon to see the Blue Grass
festival, then to Bend Oregon to take care of some logistics for
long term travel. We then headed for Lincoln City, Oregon at
"Chinook Bend Resort".
From this point, I will be trying to review the resorts
and point out good and back items that happen to us as we go.
My big concern is access to the internet, clean facilities and
friendly service.
Chinook Bend Resort: Oregon Coast
This was a bit of a surprise. We really liked this one. First
of all, the owners we wonderful. They went out of their way to
make sure we were happy. If you like a happy place to go and
great September Salmon fishing. You really need to visit this
place. If you need internet, they provide wireless at the
lodge.
Paradise Cove Resort: Oregon Coast
This is truly a fishing RV park. This place ranks poorly with us.
The people seemed bored and non friendly. There sites were
primitive and do not provide internet. If you like
fishing, this is a great place to go, however, do not depend on
getting any personal attention or service from this place.
Pacific Holiday Resort: Long Beach Washington This is a fresh and clean resort. However, there is no internet
at all. The sites a large and the beach access is wonderful.
The facilities are clean and the employees seem very friendly.
If you are looking for a relaxing place to stay, you will like it
here.
Ocean Mist RV Park - Ocean Shores, Washington - KM Resorts Well lets start with Internet again - NOPE!!. I guess they do
not care that you have to travel to the main town of Ocean shores to
use your wireless laptop.
This park was a real let down. The facilities were dirty and not
kept up. We also found the parking to be a real mess.
The staff was friendly, yet didn't seem to be on top of the park.
The beach access is nice, but its just as nice at all the RV Parks.
Lost Lake RV Park - Olympia, Washington Be ready for a sales pitch. These guys want to sell you a lot.
This place was pretty nice once you got use to the Railroad Trains
and Gravel pit trucks.
They do have wireless internet, very clean facilities and a
wonderful mini lake.
Pier 4 - Sunset RV Park and Resort - Moses Lake,
Washington Nice place, but they are not pet friendly at all.
Get ready to keep you pet in. They do not want your pets on
the grass at all. Nor do these folks have internet. The
facilities are pretty nice and the folks are friendly if you do not
have a pet.
Yogi Bear's Camp Resort - Cheney, Washington - KM
Resorts This is a great place to take kids, but be careful where they tell you to
park, even if you are a member of KM Resorts. Try to image,
going to up a large dirt road hill, with trees and then curve
downhill and find out you have to back in a new 35 foot Montana 5th
wheel to the side, on side hill. It was a night mare, but
after 2 hours, we actually got setup.
What really killed me was walking down to the nicer area, that said
members only. It was green and flat with nice lots. Good
thing we purchased a membership with KM Resorts.
This place does have internet, but you must pay for it and get a new
password everyday. The clubhouse and activity center is nice,
but I am to mad to appreciate it.
A few days later, we finally went own to the office and
asked if we could be moved to the lower section. They agreed,
and we moved right away. We also told them that I was a Square
dance Caller, and before you know it, we got asked to hold a dance
for the park on that Friday night. It was a hit. See
pictures below.
So here we are, in our forties,
the kids have moved out, and we are tired of the rat race.
Then the idea came, lets look
into full time Motor home living.
Since I have a virtual career,
and my wife is in accounting, this just might work.
No more mortgage payment,
property taxes, sewage, water, home repair, and most of all, if I
hate my neighbors, I can move in a day.
But now the real problem
starts. How to get ready?
Over 25 years of junk. What do
we keep? What do we store? What about the cars and boat?
So now we are in the planning
stages and what a scaring thing. We have started looking at Motor
homes at lots and RV shows. They are beautiful and cost a lot less
than my Yuppy home.
So many questions come up about
living in a motor home. Will we be happy? Will we get to see the
world and still be comfortable? Will we meet new friends? Can we
live with only one car?
We have also been trying to talk
with full time Motor home couples to ask them about the lifestyle.
Everyone of them so far have quoted “We should have done this years
ago”. Most of the folks are retired.
Do you have to be retired to
enjoy a Motor Home?
I think not. Remember how our
parents use to tell us we would work for companies all our lives and
retire with a great pension. Well that went to pot. But we now
have virtual careers available and the cards dealt to us can allow
us to look outside the box.
This will be a 8 month project
for us to get ready. So we will be publishing a series of articles
as we get closer and more educated about Motor home living.
If your looking for a great
drive, try cruising North East Oregon near the blue
mountain. We found the drive to be a real
pleasure. Lots of scenery and take you Fly Pole with
you, there are plenty of rivers to fish along the
way.
We visited John Day, Mitchell, Pendleton,
Sumpter, Granite, Baker City and many other small towns along
the way. Below are a few pictures of the scenery and
rivers we stopped at.

If you haven't had the chance to visit Crater
Lake, Oregon. Here is what you are missing.
Well,
the Ranger learned a very important lesson last week about owning a new trailer. We
left on a trip around the Olympic Peninsula to do a little camping and fishing. When
we stopped at Sequim State park to rest for a day, the Ranger found a little water on the
floor, and when we turn on the water to the trailer, the Ranger found a lot more. So
needless to say, the Ranger became a instant plumber. After two days at Sequim and 4
trips to the hardware store and ripping half the trailer apart. It was fixed.
Lesson learned: Even if you use your
RV year round, Winterize it!
So guess what we did as soon as we got home? We
broke out the owners manual, and drained our water out just like they recommend. I
sure hope you have done the same to your RV? Hope this is a good reminder to
everyone to go check your pipes. It really messes up a camping trip when you get
there.
Here we are, one of our first
trips with the trailer near Mt. St. Helens. It was ruff, it was wonderful. A
real must for aging Rangers. My daughter seems to have adapted to this new trailer
life just fine too.
