Boating

Hello Fellow Rangers,
Yes, It was time to replace the boat with my new, Lean, Mean Fishing machine.  21' Custom weld boat.  Yes, That is a 225 horse Honda on the back!!.  Coupled with a 15 horse Honda tolling motor.
She does some real speed, but she also is full electronic.  3 electric Scotty downriggers.  All engines have electric tilt.  The trolling motor have a remote steering joystick.  We also equipped it with a interchangeable Shrimp and Crab pot puller that installs on the Scotty mounts and Scotty plug in.
This has been a great machine for a aging Ranger.  We needed a machine that was easy to operate and easy to load and unload.  It also allowed us to be more mobile, to visit more fishing areas.  Since the boat has outboards, you can see we have a large about of people space.   We hope to have some great fishing stories from this new toy.

Please take the time to share your boating experiences, problems, favorite equipment or great trips.  I have many stories and safety ideas, but I am sure that you have much to tell us too.  So grab a pen and write, or email the Ranger so he doesn't hog this hole page!

This is my secret hide away from the world. Its John Wayne Marina, in Sequim, Washington. This has become my families second home. This marina is always safe, clean and the people working there are very proud of it.

What is so nice about this place is you can enjoy it year round. Winter Black Mouth Salmon, Crabbing, Shrimping and cruising to the San Juan's. Summers with Coho and Chinook fishing and beautiful scenery everywhere you look. This is where Rangerrob keeps his 28 foot boat.

The evenings can be beautiful here, but never forget it can change. It is always important to watch the weather here, and be safe.

I will be writing much more about Sequim and how to enjoy its gift. Keep checking in.

Last summer, down on Lake Isabella, located in the high desert an hour east
> of Bakersfield, a blonde, new to boating was having a problem.  No matter
> how hard she tried, she just couldn't get her brand new 22 ft Bayliner to
> perform.  It wouldn't get on a plane at all, and it was very sluggish in
> almost every maneuver, no matter how much power she applied.
> After about an hour of trying to make it go, she putted over to a nearby
> marina.  Maybe they could tell her what was wrong.  A thorough topside check
> revealed everything was in perfect working order.  The engine ran fine, the
> outdrive went up and down, and the prop was the correct size and pitch.
> So, one of the marina guys jumped in the water to check underneath the boat.
> He came up choking on water, he was laughing so hard.  Under the boat, still
> strapped securely in place, was the trailer.
